Assessment Criteria
Grade 3 is the first grade without buoyancy aids. Learners must know the water safety code, swim two recognised strokes to 10m and demonstrate underwater skills.

NO buoyancy aids permitted for any criteria.
- 1.Understand and describe the water safety code.
- 2.Slide-in entry, tread water 10 seconds.
- 3.Push and glide into front crawl or breaststroke 10m (first choice).
- 4.Push and glide into backstroke 10m.
- 5.Push and glide into front crawl or breaststroke 5m (second choice).
- 6.Push and glide, dolphin leg action on front or back 5m.
- 7.Submerge underwater, retrieve object.
- 8.Scull head or feet first 2m.
- 9.Step or jump entry, swim 5m front, rotate to back, swim back to start.
- 10.Mushroom float 5 seconds, extend to front float, return to vertical.
