Stage Overview
Stage 5 completes all four stroke arm pulls and introduces deep water skills including treading water, shaped jumps, handstands and somersaults.
โ No flotation equipment. Deep water required for jumping and handstand criteria.
Assessment Criteria
- Flat stationary scull on the back.
- Feet first sculling action for 5 metres on the back.
- Sculling sequence with a partner for 30โ45 seconds, including rotation.
- Tread water for 30 seconds.
- Three different shaped jumps into deep water.
- Push and glide, swim 10 metres backstroke (Swim England standard).
- Push and glide, swim 10 metres front crawl (Swim England standard).
- Push and glide, swim 10 metres breaststroke (Swim England standard).
- Push and glide, swim 10 metres butterfly (Swim England standard).
- Handstand โ hold for a minimum of 3 seconds.
- Forward somersault.
- Demonstrate the action for getting help.
