Stage Overview

Stage 4 develops all four stroke leg kicks and introduces sculling, while exploring buoyancy through floating shape sequences.

โšฌ 1 piece of flotation equipment optional for backstroke, front crawl and breaststroke kick criteria.

Assessment Criteria

  1. Sequence of changing shapes (minimum 3) whilst floating โ€” demonstrate understanding of floating.
  2. Push and glide from the wall towards the pool floor.
  3. Kick 10 metres backstroke (1 piece of equipment optional).
  4. Kick 10 metres front crawl (1 piece of equipment optional).
  5. Kick 10 metres butterfly on the front or back.
  6. Kick 10 metres breaststroke on the front (1 piece of equipment optional).
  7. Head first sculling action for 5 metres in a flat position on the back.
  8. Travel on the back, log roll continuously onto the front.
  9. Travel on the front, log roll continuously onto the back.
  10. Push and glide, swim 10 metres (choice of stroke).
