Octopus Series (1–3)

Independent swimming development. All four stroke kicks introduced. Levels 1–2 permit buoyancy aids; level 3 does not.

Octopus 1

🏊 Buoyancy aids may be used
  1. 1Answer 2 water safety questions.
  2. 2Enter pool safely (steps, ramp or swivel).
  3. 3Move confidently in different ways.
  4. 4Use woggle to swim front paddle and back paddle 5m.
  5. 5Push and glide on front and back.
  6. 6Attempt simultaneous circle action on back 2m with woggle.
  7. 7Travel under woggle waterfall.
  8. 8Return to standing from star float on back.
  9. 9Treading water legs with woggle.
  10. 10Exit safely unassisted.

Octopus 2

🏊 Buoyancy aids may be used
  1. 1Answer 2 water safety questions.
  2. 2Enter with step or jump.
  3. 3Swim 2m front paddle and 2m back paddle unaided.
  4. 4Use woggle to kick across pool blowing bubbles.
  5. 5Demonstrate front crawl arm action standing.
  6. 6Demonstrate back crawl arm action standing.
  7. 7Push and glide on front, face in water.
  8. 8Push and glide on back, arms by side.
  9. 9Rotate from back float to front float and return — with woggle.
  10. 10Submerge and retrieve object.

Octopus 3

✓ No buoyancy aids
  1. 1Answer 2 water safety questions.
  2. 2Enter with step or jump, turn around, swim back.
  3. 3Push and glide into front crawl or breaststroke 5m.
  4. 4Push and glide into back crawl 5m.
  5. 5Star float on front or back — hold 3 seconds.
  6. 6Dolphin kick on front or back 2m.
  7. 7Scull head first with woggle.
  8. 8Attempt breaststroke (woggle for support).
  9. 9Tread water 10 seconds.
  10. 10Swim forward 2m, roll onto back, swim 2m, roll to standing.
