Stage Overview

Stage 7 is the final core Learn to Swim stage. Learners must demonstrate all four strokes to Swim England standard over 25 metres, complete a 50m single-stroke swim and a 100m continuous multi-stroke swim, plus movement sequences and an obstacle course.

โœ— No flotation equipment. Deep water required.

Assessment Criteria

  1. Push and glide, swim 25 metres backstroke (Swim England standard).
  2. Push and glide, swim 25 metres front crawl (Swim England standard).
  3. Push and glide, swim 25 metres breaststroke (Swim England standard).
  4. Push and glide, swim 25 metres butterfly (Swim England standard).
  5. Movement sequence (1 minute, group of 3 or more): sculling, rotation, floating, eggbeater.
  6. Sitting dive or dive.
  7. Push and glide, swim 50 metres continuously using one stroke (Swim England standard).
  8. Push and glide, swim 100 metres using a minimum of 3 different strokes.
  9. Tread water using eggbeater action for 30 seconds.
  10. Obstacle course (minimum 4 objects) with feet off the floor throughout.
